Behind the Lens

I am Wendy Ratner, a California based wildlife and nature photographer. I travel the world capturing images of animals in their natural environments. Working alongside local professional guides, I follow ethical wildlife photography practices that respect and preserve natural behaviors. Through my images, I hope to inspire a deeper appreciation for the wild and encourage protection of these remarkable lands and the creatures who live there.

As a wildlife photographer, I strive to capture the true essence of the animals I encounter, creating images that evoke emotion and tell the story of their lives and the environments they inhabit. I am equally drawn to the land itself, portraying landscapes in ways that reveal both their beauty and their harsh realities. In this process, I often discover abstract details hidden in plain sight, quiet moments where light, texture, and form transform the natural world into something both intimate and artful.
